WHAT DOES GRADUATE PILATES HAVE TO OFFER?

GROUP FITNESS CLASSES

We offer consistent low-impact and moderately-paced group fitness class formats with Pilates exercise programming and equipment to meet various goals. Classes are developed with intention and taught by top instructors to improve mobility, stability and strength. The physical fitness programming can be done on its own or supplemental to other exercise methods.

STACKABLE SCHEDULES

Group classes are strategically scheduled to allow you to take one or multiple classes to meet different goals. Each class is programmed intentionally and using Contemporary Pilates prinicples and exercise science in mind.

PRIVATE PILATES LESSONS

If you prefer one on one training or more a more authentic approach to Pilates, we offer Private Pilates Lessions with one of our instructors. These can be scheduled recurring directly with our team or as available within our scheduling app. We also make private sessions accessible to monthly members to dial in and take learnings back to group classes to get the most of your time with us.

SELF-PRACTICE HOURS

We also offer self-practice class hours for those looking to guide their own movement. Self-practice allows you* to book a Pilates Reformer and Chair to exercise on their own--a unique perk for our community. *Eligibility req's apply.

HEALTH IS WEALTH & KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

We aim to educate you along the way. You can gain a wealth of knowledge about your body and movement practice as your fitness improves.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to teach our community how to exercise with confidence, strength, and control—We offer a contemporary Pilates workout, with streamlined group fitness classes and private training sessions that focus on improving stability, mobility and strength. We empower you to grow through education and movement.

WE DO WHAT WE DO WELL

We do what we do really well, but we don't do everything. There may be additional behavior changes or other types of workouts that compliment the work you do inside of Graduate Pilates. We work with you to understand your goals and guide you. We refer you out when necessary--caring about you, holistically.

OUR INSTRUCTORS

Our instructors are paid a livable hourly wage, have the protections of state and federal labor laws, and have a place to create a career within the gym, leading to deeper connection to our members and our mission. We encourage and support our instructors to take care of their bodies and minds, just as they take care of you. Full time instructors are offered paid time off in order to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

FLEXIBILITY FOR YOUR LIFE

We believe in training your body to get you through life. And we know that life happens. We have intentionally set policies that considers this. We offer cancellation policies that are more compatible with your schedule and more flexible monthly membership terms when compared to industry norms. We cannot operate without policies, but aim to make them considerate of your life.

We know that it can be tough to search for things like 'Pilates studios near me,' 'Pilates for beginners in Nashville,' 'Advanced Pilates nearby,' 'Pilates for men' or 'real Pilates studios' and feel confident you are finding a studio that meets your expectations. Because Pilates has a variety of applications, no studios can vary within the method. This is one reason why we offer a free demo class from time to time. We also offer to schedule complimentary 15 minute meetings for those that are really nervous to join to talk about specific goals and ensure we are aligned with your needs.

We are a Contemporary mixed-level Pilates studio, training men, women, and teens. We look at class level formats a bit different than some other studios. At many studios, class levels are determined by risk-assessment not necessarily by difficulty of the exercise, which can be confusing. We prefer to focus on your progress not your class level. We workout at a moderate pace-- quick enough to get the most out of the time you are in, but not too fast to find your form in order to move with control, precision and alignment. Please reach out or join us for a free demo class or reach out to learn more. We don't offer a free full length first class, but if you would prefer to take full length class at our single class rate, and you decide to join within 24 hours, we will apply a credit for the total dollar amount of that class to be used towards a future purchase with us.

ABOUT THE NAME

Is ‘Graduate’ a verb or a noun?

Well, both. When saying our name, we treat it as a noun. When thinking about it’s meaning--it’s a play on both. We are a rooted in Pilates principles but believe in expanding our knowledge and evolving. We teach and understand the Pilates principals, but are always learning and applying that knowledge. We teach, we learn, repeat. Our clients don’t just do Pilates--they learn new things about themselves.

We require grip socks for safety and sanitation. There are no exceptions to this rule. You can bring your own or we have affordable options onsite for purchase (starting at $5 and up.) While we appreciate your desire to share videos on social media, the distraction that filming creates during class outweighs the benefits we see from social media posts. Why is Reformer Pilates more expensive than Mat Pilates or Yoga?

Less people per class, expensive equipment, and highly educated instructors are a few reasons why equipment Pilates costs more, overall. For more information, check out this article linked here.

Why don't you offer Unlimited Group classes like other studios.

We made the decision to not offer a fully Unlimited memberships for a few reasons.

Most Unlimited Membership at other studios are deceptive and actually have a limit to them. We prefer transparent marketing. No need to worry about expensive late cancel and no show fees. With our membership options, the price you pay is the price you pay.

Furthermore, we find that even the most active members don't come every single day and we believe that your body needs a break and variety. Our recommendation is to do Pilates 2 - 4x per week depending on your goals. Chat with us to learn more about your sweet spot.

And if you truly love the idea of unlimited, reach out to us about the best way to get as many classes as your heart desires for the best price.

Why do some group classes cost 1 credit and others cost more?

We developed a mix of formats and class durations to meet different needs. We also allow our members the flexibility to stack different classes in the same day to meet different needs. Some classes are 30 minutes and others are 50 minutes long, some require less technical instruction while others require more technical instruction and some classes are smaller in size, allowing for more individualized attention.

Do you offer discounts or sales on memberships and packages?

We offer promotions from time to time that primarily focus on bonus class credits or merchandise perks. We do not offer percentage or dollar discounts off our membership pricing, with an exception on pre-payment promos. We want to keep our membership pricing straight-forward no matter when you decide to join.

That being said, we do believe that Pilates should be accessible for all income levels which is why we offer Scholarships for a limited percentage of total memberships to those with an annual household income of $55,000 or less and those experiencing hardships from employer layoffs or furloughs. If you are interested in learning more about availability, terms and conditions, and the application process, please email us at help@graduatepilates.com.

How often should I do Pilates?

This will depend on your overall health and wellness goals. We are happy to schedule a complimentary 15 meeting to talk about it. Feel free to email help@graduatepilates.com to schedule.

As a general guide, it is important to practice Pilates to progress at it. We find that 2x per week, on average, is a good cadence for many individuals looking to get the most out of what it has to offer, regardless of if you are participating other physical fitness activities. 3-4 times per week may be more appropriate for those who want to get better, faster, or to dedicate a deeper understanding to the method.

If you have specific fitness goals, like building muscle or losing weight, we recommend scheduling a meeting to discuss it with us so we can guide you to which formats will best meet your needs and refer you out to others to supplement your goals on a case by case basis.
